Tulla Road / Cappahard Ennis Roundabout

R352 Tulla Road / Cappahard / Oakleigh Wood Roundabout & storm drainage upgrade

Works Update 14/10/2016

October 10th to 14th: Site Clearance will be carried out with the removal of all topsoil and scrub areas at the access points to Cappahard and Oakleigh Wood Estates. Traffic Management Plan will be not involve any disruption to traffic on the R352 or Cappahard and Oakleigh Wood Housing Estates.

October 17th to 21st: Storm drainage upgrade works will commence on the Cappahard Access Road on Monday 17th October and will continue for a period of approximately 2 weeks. The works will be carried out by means of a single lane road closure which will be controlled by Traffic Lights. Due to the extent of the works however it will require a road closure during the hours of 9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Mon to Fri for a period of 2 weeks approximately. Access to Cappahard will be maintained during this period through a diversion via Cappahard Lane to the rear of the estate. Pedestrian access to Cappahard will be maintained at all times.

Ward and Burke Construction on behalf of Clare County Council shall commence construction on the R352 Tulla Road / Cappahard / Oakleigh Wood Roundabout and associated upgrade to the storm water drainage network on October 6th 2016 for a 12 week period. The aim of the project is to alleviate traffic congestion and flooding at the junction leading to improved safety for all road users utilising the junction.

The project involves the construction of a new roundabout on the Tulla Road which will incorporate new accesses onto the Tulla Road from both Cappahard and Oakleigh Wood Housing Developments. A section of the existing Cappahard access road will also be aligned in order to create access onto the roundabout. The project will also incorporate the introduction of 2 new zebra crossings on the Tulla Road at both sides of the roundabout and also informal pedestrian crossing points at the accesses to Cappahard and Oakleigh Wood. New lighting will also be provided within the vicinity of the junction and also within a section the Cappahard development.

Traffic management will be erected to facilitate the construction of the works, the first section will involve laying a deep storm drain in through access road to Cappahard. This will be carried out under a single lane closure controlled by traffic lights, however it will also involve closing the road between 9.30 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. for a 2 week period with alternative access being maintained through the rear of the estate on Cappahard Lane.

Single lane traffic access and egress to the Tulla Road from Cappahard will be maintained under a traffic light system at all other times. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times and we will work with all the residents to facilitate arrangements for deliveries etc, insofar as possible.
